Fuji Jigger Vessel
In May 1988, Argenova S.A. was founded and began its business activities in Argentina with the first jigger vessel.
This jigger vessel, called Fuji, was the first to adopt this selective fishing technique and to operate with this technology on an industrial scale in the country.
Later on, a first fleet exclusively engaged in shrimp catch was created.
In 1990, the first beam trawl fleet (“Tangoneros”) operating in Argentina arrived: Sarvo, Kaigel, Challenger, Corageous and Angela Wright. Since then , Argenova continues to work on innovation to optimize the history of fishing in the country.
EL LEMOS, the first freezer trawler.
In 1961, in Vigo, Spain, the first freezer trawler was built on behalf of Pescanova.
This vessel, baptized the “Lemos”, allowed us to achieve what had been previously impossible: to preserve fresh fish on board at ultra low temperatures, to immediately store fish to preserve its natural quality and to continue fishing during weeks. This innovation marked a turning point in the history of the industry.
On September 8, 1961, the vessel left for our shores to explore the fishing grounds of the South Atlantic. It was then when the activities in our seas -in an area located between Bahía Blanca and Mar del Plata -started.
